White House refuses to open e-mail
In 2007, the Supreme Court held that the Environmental Protection Agency is required to determine whether greenhouse gases represent a danger to health or the environment. Now the New York Times reports that the White House, unwilling to accept the EPA’s conclusions, has announced that the EPA’s e-mail message containing the document simply will not be opened.
Bush administration censors federal wildlife report
A large portion of an Inspector General evaluation of federal wildlife programs has been censored prior to pubication. Even data tables have been excised from a report on Endangered Species Act implementation, with cutouts so extensive that the core section of the report is virtually unreadable.
