In the mid-90’s I began a study of history and worship that led me in 1999 to enter the Orthodox Church. By then, the text file where I’d been keeping notes had grown into a collection of paper and electronic documents and a daunting pile of books.

When friends asked me why I converted, I wanted to share everything I’d read, but at the time not much was available online. So I published a site called SILOUAN at PhilThompson.net, built by hand in Notepad, using shiny new (at the time) HTML 3.0, as a sort of online journal of my study and thoughts.

A “Web Log,” if you will.

Now, something like eight years later, the tech behind the site has not aged well, and I haven’t updated it in a while. But the site continues to generate hits and start dialogues, so I’ve migrated that content into Wordpress and updated the design to match the current incarnation of PhilThompson.net.
